Recognition (WEFT)
| W — Wings | Low-mounted, straight |
|---|---|
| E — Engines | 1 × piston, nose-mounted |
| F — Fuselage | 6.3 m fuselage |
| T — Tail | Conventional |
WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Low-wing monoplane derived from the ERCO Ercoupe
- Single raked fin and rudder in the style of the M20 series, in place of the Ercoupe twin fins
- Two-seat cabin with a single Continental piston engine in the nose
The Ercoupe-style twin fins are replaced by a single backward-raked fin like those of the big Mooneys. Unlike the M20, the tail is conventional, with a fixed horizontal stabiliser and hinged elevator.
Specifications
- The Mooney M10 Cadet has a length of 6.3 m (21 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 9.14 m (30 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 190 km/h (118 mph).
- Typical crew: 2.

History
It was derived from the ERCO Ercoupe, whose type certificates Mooney bought from the Alon Corporation in 1967. The first flight was on 23 February 1968, and a few Alon A2-A aircraft were built at Kerrville before production changed over.
Variants
The M10 differs from the Alon A2-A in its new tail, ailerons and fuel tank vent. Replacing the twin tail with a spinnable single-fin tail allowed students to train on an aircraft that was not restricted as incapable of spinning.
Where you'll see it
Only 59 were built. The type certificates covering all Ercoupe variants, including the M10, are now owned by Univair Aircraft Corporation.
