Moynet M 360 Jupiter
Matra · France · first flew 1963 · light aircraft
The Moynet M 360 Jupiter was a small French executive transport of the 1960s with an unusual twin push-pull layout in a single fuselage. The first prototype had two 200 hp Lycoming IO-360 engines.
Recognition (WEFT)
| W — Wings | Low-mounted, tapered |
|---|---|
| E — Engines | 2 × piston, fuselage-mounted |
| F — Fuselage | Push-pull twin with one Lycoming engine at each end of a single conventional fuselage |
| T — Tail | Twin fin |
WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Push-pull twin with one Lycoming engine at each end of a single conventional fuselage
- Rear engine mounted in the extreme tail, with rectangular cooling intakes on the upper sides of the rear fuselage
- Tailplane mounted on top of the fuselage with small endplate fins carrying balanced rudders
Look for a small low-wing twin with a propeller at the nose and another pusher propeller at the extreme tail, and twin endplate fins on a high tailplane.
Specifications
- The Moynet M 360 Jupiter has a length of 8.77 m (29 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 11.49 m (38 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 363 km/h (226 mph).
- Typical crew: 1.

History
It was designed by Andre Moynet, a member of the French National Assembly and a former government minister who was also a test pilot, and built by Engins Matra. The aim was to combine the performance of a conventional twin with the easy handling of a single-engined aircraft. The first prototype flew on 17 December 1963.
Variants
Two prototypes were built, the second with more power and seating. The aircraft seated four to seven people depending on the engine power.
Where you'll see it
No sales resulted. The long-span tailplane, about 44 per cent of the span of the wings, was a striking feature.
