The M28 Bryza is a twin-turboprop STOL light transport and maritime patrol aircraft, a Polish development of the Antonov An-28 fitted with Western engines and avionics.

History

PZL Mielec re-engined the licence-built An-28 with Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprops and Western systems, flying the M28 Skytruck in 1993. The militarised Bryza versions added mission equipment for the Polish armed forces.

Variants

The family spans the civil Skytruck and the military Bryza in transport, maritime patrol and navigation-trainer forms, differing in radar and sensor fit. Numbers serve the Polish Air Force and Navy and several export customers.

Where you'll see it

The type has no UK operators, RAF tactical airlift being handled by the C-130 and A400M, but it is a mainstay of Polish light transport and coastal patrol. Small numbers have also been supplied to the US for special-operations use.
