Recognition (WEFT)
| W — Wings | Mid-mounted, tapered |
|---|---|
| E — Engines | 1 × none, embedded-mounted |
| F — Fuselage | 7.6 m fuselage |
| T — Tail | Conventional |
WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Mid-set cantilever gull wing with elliptical tips
- Long multi-framed canopy extending forward to the nose
- Broad D-shaped rudder with no fin and a monowheel under the wing
Look for a mid-wing glider with strongly tapered gull wings, a tailplane on a short pedestal and a broad rudder without a fin.
Specifications
- The Teichfuss Turbine has a length of 7.6 m (25 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 18.5 m (61 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 290 km/h (180 mph).
- Typical crew: 1.

History
The design was begun in 1938 and showed the influence of Hans Jacobs' DFS Reiher but was simpler to construct. The fuselage was ovoid in section and plywood-skinned.
Variants
Only one Turbine was built, despite structural simplifications intended to allow small series production.
Where you'll see it
Adriano Mantelli flew the first flight and later flew it at the Third Asiago National Gliding Competition in early August. He then took it to the World Student Competition near Vienna just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
