The TL Sting is a high-performance Czech composite LSA that achieves 300 km/h cruise, placing it at the absolute limit of the light sport category. Its clean composite airframe and Rotax 912 iS or 914 engine deliver exceptional speed for its class.

History

TL Ultralight of Hradec Králové developed the Sting series from the early 2000s, and it has become one of the fastest production LSAs available. The frameless bubble canopy and narrow composite fuselage contribute to a drag coefficient well below most competitors. A succession of models has refined the design over two decades.

Variants

The Sting S4 and Carbon are the main production variants; the Carbon uses a carbon fibre airframe for further weight reduction; the Sting Sport is a lighter version.

Where you'll see it

TL Stings are found on the UK microlight and permit register and are popular with speed-conscious pilots wanting maximum cruise from an economical engine.
