The YS-11M is a military cargo transport variant of the NAMC YS-11, modified with a reinforced freight floor and cargo handling equipment for Japan Air Self-Defense Force logistics.

History

Variants

The YS-11M was followed by the YS-11M-A, an improved cargo version; together they formed the backbone of JASDF tactical airlift for decades.

Where you'll see it

Operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force for intra-Japan cargo and logistic missions; now largely retired in favour of the C-2.
