The Aero Ae 01 was the first aircraft constructed by the Aero company, newly established in Prague following Czechoslovak independence in 1918. A conventional two-seat biplane, it set the template for the firm's early design philosophy.

History
Completed in 1919, the Ae 01 was Aero's inaugural product, built at a time when Czechoslovakia was establishing its own aviation industry. The design reflected current European biplane conventions and used available wartime-surplus components, proving the viability of domestic aircraft manufacture in the new republic.
Variants
The Ae 02 followed with a shorter fuselage and higher performance; the Ae 01 itself was a single prototype or very small series.
