History
Aérospatiale flew the prototype AS350 in 1974, and the type entered production in 1978; it became one of the best-selling light helicopters in the world with over 4,000 built. The Starflex composite rotor head and large wrap-around windscreen are hallmarks of the design.
Variants
The AS350 family includes the B, B1, B2, B3, and D variants with progressively more powerful engines; the B3 is the high-altitude variant that operated on Mount Everest.
