The Citation Mustang is Cessna's entry-level very light jet, a four-passenger twinjet certified for single-pilot operation that brought turbofan ownership within reach of owner-flyers.

Look for the small twin turbofans mounted on the rear fuselage, the T-tail and the short low swept wing. Its diminutive size and four-window cabin set it apart from larger Citations.

History

Launched in 2002 and first flown on 23 April 2005, the Model 510 was Cessna's answer to the emerging very light jet market. It entered service in 2006 with a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit, and production ran until 2017 with 479 built.

Variants

Cessna offered the baseline Mustang plus the High Sierra Edition with cosmetic and avionics enhancements. No stretched or re-engined version followed, the type being superseded by the larger Citation M2.

Where you'll see it

A popular owner-flown and air-taxi light jet across Europe, the Mustang is a regular at UK business airfields such as Biggin Hill and Farnborough and slips easily into London City and regional fields. Several are based in Britain on private and charter registers.
