The Mitsubishi SpaceJet (formerly MRJ — Mitsubishi Regional Jet) was Japan's first attempt to develop a domestically designed regional jet airliner, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1200G geared turbofan engines. After a decade of delays and billions in losses, the programme was cancelled without entering commercial service.

History
Launched in 2008 and first flown in November 2015, the SpaceJet suffered repeated delays totalling over six years due to certification challenges, US airworthiness compliance issues, and supply chain problems. Mitsubishi rebranded the programme as SpaceJet in 2019 and developed a US-variant M100, but suspended commercial activities in 2023 effectively ending the programme.
Variants
The M90 was the 90-seat primary variant; the M100 was a smaller US-market variant in development for scope-clause operations; neither entered commercial service.
Where you'll see it
No commercial service was achieved; ANA held the largest order but never received aircraft. The programme was formally wound down, with test aircraft mothballed.
