History
Derived from the Cessna O-1, SIAI-Marchetti fitted a more powerful Allison 250-B15G turboprop engine to create the SM.1019, which first flew in 1969. The Italian Army Aviation (AVES) procured the type as a modern artillery spotter and liaison aircraft.
Variants
The SM.1019A was the primary production version; minor avionics and equipment differences distinguished sub-variants used for liaison versus observation duties.
