History
SIAI-Marchetti launched the S.205 in 1965 as a modern all-metal four-seat tourer to compete with Cessna and Piper products. The 'F' suffix denotes the fuel-injected Lycoming IO-360-A1B6 engine variant (as opposed to carburetted options). The type received Italian certification and found buyers among flying clubs and private owners, with the Italian Air Force also operating the S.208 military trainer derived from the same family.
Variants
S.205/18R (retractable gear, 180 hp); S.205/20R (retractable, 200 hp); S.205/22R (retractable, 220 hp); S.205F (fixed gear, fuel-injected); S.208 (military trainer derivative).
Where you'll see it
