The Tecnam P92 Echo is a factory-built Italian high-wing light aircraft that became a defining design in the European LSA and microlight market. Its all-metal construction and refined aerodynamics offer a step up from fabric microlights.

History

Luigi Pascale's Tecnam company of Capua, Italy first flew the P92 in 1993, and it rapidly became one of the most popular factory-built microlight aircraft in Europe. Its all-aluminium construction, relatively high cruise speed, and comfortable cabin attracted pilots transitioning from heavier aircraft. The P92 family spawned numerous derivatives over three decades.

Variants

The P92 Echo Classic, Echo Super, and Echo S represent successive refinements; the P92-2000 added a Rotax 912 S engine; the RG variant offers retractable gear.

Where you'll see it

The P92 Echo is one of the most common factory-built aircraft on the UK NPPL microlight register and LAA permit system, widely used for training and touring.
