History

Launched in 2014, the A330neo updated the popular A330 with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, a higher-span wing and distinctive curved sharklets borrowed from A350 thinking. The -900 made its maiden flight on 19 October 2017 and entered service with TAP Air Portugal in 2018.

Variants

The neo family comprises the larger A330-900 and the shorter A330-800, which shares engines and systems but sold in much smaller numbers. Cabin and range options let operators tailor the aircraft to medium and long-haul markets.

Where you'll see it

UK travellers most often meet the A330-900neo on inbound long-haul services into Heathrow and Gatwick flown by carriers such as TAP and Air Mauritius, alongside leisure operations. It competes with the Boeing 787 on routes serving Britain's major hubs.
