History
Bombardier announced the Global 8000 in 2022, derived from the Global 7500 airframe which had entered service in 2018. The 8000 designation reflects a claimed range of 8,000 nautical miles — sufficient for Singapore to New York non-stop. A Global 7500 testbed demonstrated Mach 0.94 in 2021, and the 8000's certification in 2024 validated the extended-range configuration. The 2022 first-flight figure used here reflects the testbed programme that underpins the type.
Variants
The Global 8000 is the sole variant; the closely related Global 7500 remains in production as a slightly shorter-range option. The Global 6500 and 5000 complete the family below.
