The Gulfstream G450 is a large-cabin, long-range business jet that refined the earlier GIV/G400 family with a stretched flight deck and updated PlaneView avionics.

Look for the distinctive row of large oval cabin windows, the rear-fuselage engine pods, and the tall T-tail. The swept supercritical wing and pointed nose give it a purposeful, long-legged stance on the ramp.

History

Announced in 2003, the G450 grew directly out of the Gulfstream IV lineage and entered service in 2005. It paired Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C engines with a redesigned nose section that moved the pressure bulkhead forward for a roomier cockpit.

Variants

The type shared its platform with the smaller G350, differing mainly in fuel and range figures. Production ran until around 2018, when the clean-sheet G500 superseded it in Gulfstream's line-up.

Where you'll see it

Widely operated by corporate flight departments and charter fleets, several G450s are UK-registered and routinely seen at Farnborough and London Luton. Governments have also used the type for VIP and special-mission transport.
