The Embraer E-Jet E2 family is the re-engined and aerodynamically improved successor to the original E-Jet series, featuring Pratt & Whitney PW1000G geared turbofan engines for significantly improved fuel efficiency. It serves regional and mainline routes with the E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2 variants.

History

Launched in 2013 and first flown in 2016, the E2 programme gave the successful E-Jet line a new lease of life against competition from Airbus and Boeing narrowbody derivatives. Azul Brazilian Airlines launched the E195-E2 into commercial service in 2018. Boeing briefly sought to acquire Embraer's commercial aviation division before abandoning the deal in 2020.

Variants

Three variants: E175-E2 (80 seats, fewer orders due to US scope clause), E190-E2 (97 seats), and E195-E2 (up to 146 seats, the largest and most successful).

Where you'll see it

Operated by Azul, KLM Cityhopper, Wideroe, and other carriers across Europe, the Americas, and Asia; the E195-E2 has replaced A319s and 737-700s on thinner routes.
